This is why objectivism- and libertarianism, too- doesn't work because it ignores factors of reality. Does it make sense if society is a post-racial, completely equal society where everyone has the same possibilities from the start, in a pure meritocracy, where nobody get knocked down by random chance? Yes. Does that ever happen, that society? No.

Bullmoose told me a couple days ago that communism and libertarianism are really the two extremes of the economic spectrum, communism being purely collective, and libertarianism/objectivism being purely individual. This is why I try to have a very mixed and realistic outlook of things. I'm fiscally conservative, socially liberal on many issues, and socially conservative on a few.

Maybe not, but I say that because that would mean Lenin would shrink the government except for purposes to prevent crimes. Communism is what drove those dictators to force collectivism, even if it's not consistent with communism, and libertarianism's belief in freedom of speech would've prevented great purges
